I’m not sure if i am going to get into an ivy league school when i first apply so if i don’t get in and eventually want to transfer, should i just try to get into what ever the best college i can get into is or are there certain colleges that ivy league schools accept transfers from more frequently?
Most of the Ivy League schools accept very few transfers. In most cases for Ivy League schools getting accepted as a transfer student is more difficult than getting accepted as a freshman straight out of high school. However, you do not need to go to an Ivy League school to be very successful in life. Also, you don’t have to go to an Ivy League school for undergrad in order to go to one for graduate school.
As one example, Harvard has about 6,700 undergrads, and about 15,250 graduate students. Not all of those graduate students did undergrad at Harvard. Similarly, when I was in graduate school at a very highly ranked (“top 3”) university, many other graduate students, possibly the majority, had done their undergrad at their in-state public flagship. Very few had come from a “top 10” university.
Also, there are some majors, such as computer science, for which the top ranked schools are not in the Ivy League.
You need to find a university that is a good fit for you, that you can afford, where you are comfortable, and where you can do well.
Of course, we would need a lot more information from you before we could suggest some schools that you might want to consider.
Community college.
The best college you can get into probably would not be the college to attend if you want to transfer, since most Ivy League colleges are looking at why you would want to transfer. But you’re being far too premature if you are looking at transferring when you have yet to be accepted as a freshman.
