Vassar (home of Powerhouse), Wes, Midd, Bard on east coast. While Pomona only has about 25 active Theater majors at any one time, more than 400 students from all of the 5Cs are actively involved in the program every year for reasons mentioned by @prepparent (and perhaps the chance to be part of the “Claremont Entertainment Mafia” - do a search for “CEM Sizzle Reel 2016”). And it might just be a coincidence that Michael and Jason showed up during the past two parents weekends and that they both have kids at Pomona.
All these are fantastic theaters I’ve personally only seen the Georgetown one and it was state-of-the-art. I’ve also heard great things about all the other ones on here. Good luck @Theatreguy999 ! ~:>
@IvyGrad09 I just learned about Connecticut College’s National Theater program. My D is interested in doing the Musical Theatre semester. Do you have experience with this program?
@daughtersdreams No, I haven’t any direct experience with the musical theater program at ConnColl.
However I looked it up for you (“ConnColl theater program”) and was surprised by all the offerings in performing arts on their website catalog. I hope you are able to obtain the details there. If not, ask admissions–we found them exquisitely responsive.
I do know that during this year’s orientation, students were invited to audition for vocal groups and free music lessons. It seems a lively school for performers, with top notch academics as well as a roomful of brand new Steinways.
I wish I’d started off at Connecticut College!
@IvyGrad09 Thank you.
