Ye, i know. They are good...Pittsburgh and Syracuse are my safeties actually. Colgate and BU are more Possible, while NYU is always a reach for NYC kids.

Amherst used to be on my list, but several factors like size and curriculum didnt attract me at all to it. But its a great skool and congratulations!

Thanks! Well, if you don't like small and intimate, then the school's probably not going to feel so right, but there are four other colleges in the area, including U Mass, which is huge. And what about the curriculum don't you like? It's open, so you pick whatever. :) Amherst has a very high acceptance rate to med schools.

Btw, didn't know that NYU was picky over city kids. Could be that I'm in the burbs.

Yes, they want "diversity" so they rather take hawaiians than new yorkers, lol. Amherst is too small....i like big communities...like cornell...and the curriculum is liberal arts...no core...i dont like that

I've been away for a while. Best wishes with Cornell. :) So you've decided on probably Bing and Stony for safeties? Don't worry, it won't make a difference which SUNYs you apply to, since the other safeties you listed are a wee bit better.

Traditionally, Binghamton is the best SUNY. However, Stony Brook has made HUGE improvements in the last decade. They have recieved several large donations. If you plan on going in the medicine or scientific research direction, then Stony Brook is a great option.

Yes, my safeties have been narrowed down to Syracuse, Bing and Stony. Thanks allure.

I plan to attend medical school after college (hopefully!) and i'm really interested in binghamton, they're great in sciences. I choose binghamton over stony brook only because i live on long island, and i want a change - is this stupid??

Well, it's probably too late to change but I would have recommended Stony for you, although I can identify with you for wanting a change - it is the reason I did not apply to either NYU or Columbia. Binghampton isn't exactly known for it's medical program though, although it has a pretty good nursing school, does Bing even have a medical major?
