<p>Caltech is also well known. Harvey Mudd is also one to compete as arguably the "best" for tech schools.</p>
<p>Internationally speaking, IIT is extremely famous and strong.</p>
<p>MIT without a question. Caltech, Stanford, and Berkeley are not far behind. Harvard is also top notch for science but not engineering.</p>
<p>Caltech and Harvey Mudd are smaller and have a narrower focus than MIT, which can be a good or bad thing. </p>
<p>Internationally, the Imperial College of London is very strong, as is "Oxbridge."</p>
