Best TI Calculator for Calculus

Does anyone know what the calculus professors usually use? TI-89? TI-86? I want to know before I blow money on one. Thanks.

TI-89 is so sick for calc .. it will integrate derive anything .. real time saver too so when ur finding critical points or anytime solving for x it will do it for you so you can just do calc and not easy timeful algebra

yea i used the 89 for AP calc this year. you cant go wrong with it

same. i used a Ti89...made me feel guilty tho...

i felt like i was cheating, somehow :P

Yeh, the TI-89 Titanium would be your best bet.

for my AP calc class we werent allowed to use a TI-89 because it did so many things and ppl never learned how to actually work things out. we had to use the TI-83

are there any rules as far as, can you use a T-83, T-89 during exams. Some schools don't allow scientific calculators for exams, they are still a great study aid though. Will give you the correct answer so you can see if you did it right.

how about ti83+ will that work ok?

ya thats what i have

it works, it's just that you have to do more work if you want some of the same functions of the TI-89. Which calculator you should use depends on your situation. Personally, this will be my third calculus class so I'm fairly certain that I know what's going on, but if you haven't taken calc yet go with the TI-83. With the 89 you'll never learn the basics and will become too dependent on the calculator. Otherwise the 89 is excellent.

do you think there will be any restrictions on which calculator we use?

i doubt a college would care what calculator the students use, but i cant be sure either way
