Best Time to apply for rutgers

Whats the best time to apply taht gives you an upperhand kind of sort of? :P

I guess September (around when school starts again).

But, after reading some of the threads here and asking around at my school, there were some people who applied in October who didn't get a reply until January or so.

So, in terms of an "upperhand"...I just don't know. But send in your app early any way :)

Send it in as soon as you can. I applied in december and didn't get a decision for about a month and a half. People I know who applied early got their decision in about a week.

If your GPA and SAT are like 3.7 and 1850 Sat you will get your decision in like 3 days. This happened to my friend. On the other hand if ur SAT is like 1600 and GPA 3.4 you will have to wait longer.

^ That probably explains why I got a response all the way in January when I submitted my application in late October. I had a 1700 SAT score with a 3.996 GPA.

What about this situation? Do I apply in September with a ~3.5 GPA (no H/AP) and a 1360/1600 SAT score or do I take the SATs in October, get the scores back (hopefully improved) and apply? I doubt I will improve my SAT scores much, maybe from a 1980 to a 2050 at best, is it worth it at all?

For the record, I'll be applying to SAS and the Business School at NB.

September. When I applied two years ago, I applied in September, took the SAT's again in October just in case, and before I even got my SAT score report for the October test I received word from Rutgers I was in. Could've saved myself some money and getting up early on a Saturday.

Quick question Inkontrol, did you have similar stats to me (i'm in-state too)?

I hear you have a better shot at getting accepted if you apply early and plus you get your acceptance/deferral earlier which is nice. Rutgers is my #1 school definitely, I'm also gonna apply to a couple reaches, a couple safeties and a couple fits but there's a 90% chance I'll end up going to RU even if I get accepted to one of my reaches, so knowing about RU early will be very nice.

codered20- well it depends what school your applying to. You should get into SAS and possibly engineering. SEBS and pharmacy might be a stretch though. Also you have the in-state advantage. It was harder for me to get in because I was from out of state.

I'll be applying to SAS and Business, but I get what you're saying, thanks for the advice, looks like I'll be sending in that app in less than two months, wow, that's crazy now that I think about it haha.

Well I guess your applying to SAS then, you can't apply to the business school until your sophomore year. You go in to SAS and take pre-business prerequisites and in your sophomore year you apply as one of the three (or what is four) different business school fields.

Alright, someone else explained it to me but I guess I didn't fully understand, so thanks again for clearing that up.
