Best Tips To Get Into The Ivy Leagues

I've been doing some research about how to get into the Ivy Leagues. But, I thought it would be good to get some tips from the CC people as well. What do you think? What is the best advice you have?

They forgot:

Have your parents or relatives donate millions of dollars to the school, then skip 1-10.

You should read A for Admission by Michele Hernandez.
She has some awesome advice about how to get into the Ivy League.

Thanks Victoria16. I'll check that book out. And, notthatgood, its too bad my parents don't have millions of dollars, but I totally hear you.

Better yet notthatgood4: be reincarnated and born to a legacy who's a celebrity who donates millions of dollars to the school...

Yeah, sort of seems like what everyone on CC always says. One criticism: everyone seems to be fixated on being the top 10% stat. That's a good place to start from, but unless you're at Andover/Milton/Exeter/SPS/Groton/Trinity/Horace Mann/etc., that isn't always enough. Kids who are smart enough to be in their schools' top 10% are often also smart enough to pursue some impressive and/or interesting EC's. Let's say Yale is willing to take one kid from a given public school. If two kids apply and both have outstanding EC's and essays. Even if the lower-ranked kid has a slightly better essay, a val would probably get in over a kid floating the 9th or 10th percentile.
