Hi all. I am debating on what the best undergrad major is for getting a MS and maybe Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. I was accepted to Johns Hopkins University, but not into BME. The university is still my top choice for the incredible research, opportunities and I am wondering what the best major would be. I am super interested in medical devices such as artificial hearts, prosthetics, etc. but have no clue if in the future I may want to do say Cellular or Tissue engineering. I am wondering if Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or something else would be a good undergrad option or if I should go somewhere else say Georgia Tech, but I really would find it difficult to say no to Hopkins which has been my top choice for years.
Based on your interests, either mechanical or electrical. Which of these sounds more appealing to you?
However, if you’re interested in graduate school, your major itself isn’t all that important–your research experience, research interests, and coursework are.
