Best undergrad research opportunities (engineering)

I want to know about schools which have good undergrad research opportunities and facilities , primarily because I am interested in research and secondarily because I've read that research is indispensable when
applying to a top grad school.

The University of Michigan is well known for it’s UROP:

[Michigan Engineering | Research Opportunities for Undergraduates](http://www.engin.umich.edu/research/undergrad.html)

Johns Hopkins has been #1 in funded research for over 30 years in a row. And it is #1 by a wide margin (@$1.6 billion per year). It also has a relatively small undergraduate population (1500 in engineering out of 4900 total undergraduates). These facts translate into unparalleled opportunities for undergraduate research.

Cornell has excellent opportunities for undergrads.

thanks a lot for the replies. :)

OP, what is your intended major?

Either electrical engineering or computer science.

Why not shoot for the moon and try computer engineering? (It is Electrical Engineering + Computer Science)

oops, you forgot to mention that a big part of those research funds go to the Medical School

good point, however
