chicago. mit a close second.

For a combination of econ and math, I’d say MIT first, followed closely by Harvard, Princeton, Chicago, and Stanford. UC Berkeley is also right up there on the faculty side, though as a large public it’s a different kind of school. But those are all pretty reachy schools for anyone. You can get a very good undergraduate educati0on in econ with a math minor at any of the Ivies, other top privates like Northwestern or Duke, other top publics like UCLA, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and most of the top LACs.

If the intention is to go to graduate school in economics, look for a school where the intermediate microeconomics course has a prerequisite of multivariable calculus (some schools like Berkeley offer both a “more math” and a “less math” version of intermediate microeconomics – the “more math” version is recommended for those intending to go to graduate school in economics).

Additional advanced courses or a minor or a second major in math and/or statistics would also be helpful for an economics major intending to go to graduate school.
