Math/Stats/Finance/Econ Major

Can you list the top ten colleges in California for each of these majors? I know this might be a lot but I'm hoping someone with actual experience with colleges would answer. At least knowing about one of the majors Is better than none so if you know for one of them please post. Also, I would hope people would be objective and answer solely based on how well a college's program is. Thanks.

The answer is probably different for math vs econ but, here’s my take - not necessarily in order
CalTech
Stanford
Cal
UCLA
Pomona
Claremont-Mckenna
Harvey Mudd
USC
Santa Clara
UCD

If you want economics courses where math is well integrated into the study of intermediate microeconomics and econometrics, take a look at Caltech, Stanford, and Berkeley (the more-math 101A-101B-141 option, not the 100A-100B-140 option), where sophomore level math is listed as a prerequisite, more than at most other colleges. Such courses can be desirable if your goal is to continue to a PhD program in economics. Harvey Mudd’s economics courses are also described as being mathematical, although formal math prerequisites are not listed in the catalog.

CMC, Pomona, Santa Clara, and USC have much less math emphasis in their economics courses (one semester of calculus required), while UCLA, UCD, and Berkeley (the less-math 100A-100B-140 option) are intermediate (two quarters to two semesters of frosh calculus required).

You can check the course catalogs for more information.
