Best way to approach getting an MFA.

My career goal is to become a film director. My dilemma is whether or not to enter college as a film major. Which would be more useful in applying to a graduate film school, a BFA in film or a BA in English. The benefits of majoring in English is that I would be attending FSU which is practically free being a Florida resident. So should I enter college as a Film or English grad if I ultimately wish to receive a MFA in film.

I know next to nothing about filmmaking except like seeing and thinking about any kind of movies from Wenders to Disney.
