<p>My son got his ACT score back and did very well. His only gap was in the Rhetorical skills sub-component. His score is good enough that we would be done but the state test includes another ACT. He would be willing to put in a few hours to try to close that gap. </p>
<p>What are the types of questions that get lumped into the Rhet skills sub-score? </p>
<p>I think getting some prep materials would help. </p>
<p>Those questions generally include thing like ordering sentences in a paragraph (What order 1, 2, 3, 4 or 2, 4, 1, 3?) They might include what might make a transition between two paragraphs smoother.<br>
I am using the Kaplan review book right now and it has a lot of good practice on these skills.<br>
I have also heard the “Elements of Style” by Strunk and White recommended. My mom actually dug out an old copy for me that she used in college.</p>
<p>These are the type of questions you don’t study solid concepts for. I would suggest practicing (of course) and reading through various tips and strategies.
