Best Way to Prepare for Law School Admissions?

I’m currently an upper-level junior at George Washington University and my major is Economics. I changed my mind a few times but I do want to go to law school after undergrad for sure. I’m not exactly liking Economics and don’t feel it’s preparing me for the LSATs. Other than gen-ed courses, nothing is analytical and writing based, and from people I know who have taken the LSATs and attend law school, both require good analytical/critical thinking and writing skills.

What major would best prepare for the LSATs, and also involve analytical and critical reading and writing which are required in law school?

Also, what kind of activities should I involve myself in to stand out in my application? I’m a transfer, and previously I interned at one law office.

Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Two points:

First, there’s an adage that says, “the best program to prepare you for X graduate program is the one that nets you the best GPA.” With most grad schools, GPA is a huge part of your application. How strong are you in Econ? If you switch to another major, there’s a possibility your GPA will suffer.

Second, if you’re a junior, do you think you’ll be able to graduate “on time” if you switch majors?

As far as what to study, I’ve known people that have studied poli-sci, economics, environmental sciences, etc. I think a lot of time it comes down to what kind of law they saw themselves wanting to practice.
