Best way to ship packages to Brown students?

Does anyone else have problems using UPS to ship packages to Brown?

Even though I’ve followed the Brown guidelines, and both Brown and UPS assure me that it’s correct:

Private carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, Airborne Exress, TNT):
Proper Name
Brown University
75 Waterman St., Box Number
Providence, RI 02912

I invariably find this statement when tracking the package:

“DIRECTIONS TO THE RECEIVER’S LOCATION ARE NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION. / DELIVERY RESCHEDULED”

Then after a several day delay, the package finally arrives.

It seems ironic that a company that calls itself Brown can’t find its namesake university.

I have sent three packages by USPS Priority Mail to my D at Brown using this address:

Name
Box XXXX
Brown University
Providence, RI 02912-XXXX
(X's being the box number in both places)

Two of the packages got there in 2 days, per my request, and the third one, sent the same Priority mail (from the same self-service box at the P.O.) took a week, maybe because it was a couple of weeks ago, and busy holiday mail time.

I have not tried to send anything UPS or FEDEX.

Don't send UPS. I made that mistake. UPS packages must be picked up at a location that was inconvenient for her -- i.e., not the post office. After that, I only send things through the US Postal Service.

Sly they only make you pick UPS things up at the grad center garage during the first few weeks of class. And if it is big or a you have more than you can carry there is a big burly guy who will take you in a van to wherever you live on campus. I did this multiple times this Fall.

Have sent multiple packages to my son using USPS and the format that Franglish used. Never had a problem with any of the packages.
