Our best wishes go out to all returning medical turnbacks. Your perseverance and heart will serve you well in these next few months. For those medical turnbacks who will not be returning, you will always be part of this family and will go on to accomplish great things. May you always have a tailwind and your skies be calm and blue.

For those entering the class of 2012 and find yourself in the unfortunate position of a medical turnback during BCT, there are enough of us out here that can help you through the year.

wow, the though of being turned back gives me shivers...what kind of stuff do people get turned back for?

I know of two who blew out their knees, one with a torn ACL, one with a cracked vertebre, one with a broken ankle, one with a shoulder injury. My son developed an infection from a puncture wound he received BEFORE he went to the Academy. He saved a lady from drowning but a piece of glass punctured his foot while pullling her out of the water. He didn't think anything of it, but looking back it did not heal the way it should. I think the stress of BCT and the pounding set off the infection. It settled in his ankle and started moving up his leg and then he developed a fever. The infection weakened the soft tissue around his ankle. We were worried it was staph but luckily it was not. By the time it started to heal, he had already missed more than 8 days of BCT. It is required to complete 30 of the 38 days of BCT. My advice if you have any open wounds, especially on your feet or ankles, get a round of antibiotics before you leave. IMHO.

Avoid pushball at Field Day and you should be fine.

Soaringhi we are all pulling for your son. At least he knows what the first few days hold this time around. We will keep watching to see how he does.

Thanks, soaringhi. :) Hope your son makes it through, and good luck to the other turnbacks, wherever you all end up.
Those types of injuries that cause you to be turned back are actually rare, so that should ease your mind flyboy47. They do happen, so be prepared, but not to many of us.

pssgiraffe - Good luck to you on your return. For better or worse, you know what is coming on June 26th. God bless!

We haven't seen or heard from Brownbunny. I know she was hoping to return too. Had a bad accident on the A-course in Jack's Valley. Hope she got past everything and makes it back.
