Best/Worst Admission/Rejection Letters

So, as I was following another thread the other day a link to this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/124384-best-worst-admission-rejection-letters-p3.html that started in 2005. I have been reading through the pages out of curiosity and finding it so interesting.

On the first few pages you will see Bennington used to send maple syrup and a freshly baked cookie from their dining halls, but when I emailed my cousin today (who is a former employee of Bennington) I was told this was traded for a poster of recommended books to read. I personally find that is much less exciting, but apparently is has worked out well within the community.

Anyway, as this pointed out to me, colleges have changed their statements and modes when giving prospective students their decisions since twelve years ago. I thought it would be interesting to begin a new updated version of the mentioned thread as it has sort of died out over the years.

So, what schools have really impressed you? What schools have crushed you (unfortunetaly)?

p.s. I’ve heard that Southern California can be an awful rejection letter, so I’m interested to hear about that, but I’m also curious does MIT still send a tube with confetti?

I’ll bump this with a phrase from my waitlist letter from BC. “With the review process now complete, acceptance letters have been sent to those students we hope will comprise our Class of 2021.” I feel that they could have come up with slightly better phrasing than that, but oh well…

Lafayette College had a lovely personalized acceptance letter referencing the applicant’s essay, ECs etc.
