Hi. I was curious as to your opinions on the different writing programs in the UC system. I am specifically deciding between UCSD, UCLA, and Cal (spring semester), though currently I am leaning towards Cal or UCLA. Thank you for the time, and I would appreciate details on any specific writing majors within any of these campuses. Thanks again.

Go to CAL.

To Anyone How Got Into Cal (fall Or Spring):

Do Not Consider Other Schools! Cal Is The Best Public University In The Nation... Ucla Or Ucsd Or Whatever Cannot Compare (even Though They Are Good Schools). Cal Is The Original UC and the rest are just branches. My Biggest Regret Of High School Was Not Applying There. If You Got In, You Will Regret Going To Another School In The Long Run. Don't Screw Up!

^
same with me but i regretted more not applying to ucla so i would say go to ucla!

The ORIGINAL University of California - at Berkeley = "California" = Cal.

Nothing at all to do with any of the California State Universities ("CSUs"), a system of universities entirely separate from the Universities of California ("UCs").

UCR has the best pure writing program in the UC system for undergraduates, as it has the only one. UCI probably has the best for grad. Many seem to think Cal has the best writing for schools that have no writing major, and UCLA is close, perhaps at the same level. English overall is probably better at Berkeley than at UCLA. At both Cal and UCLA, you have to apply for writing classes, and they can be hard to get into. You can research each schools website for more detailed information.

Why do people regret applying to UCB and UCLA? Because of the name they give? I applied to both and got into both but not planning on going to either of them...Is there a big possibility I will regret not going to either of them? HELP!

There is some possibility, but you might be very glad that you chose a different place. Why are you choosing the other places over those two?
