I've heard that public schools are quantitatively based i.e. SAT scores, GPA because they don't have enough people in the admissions, so with a low SAT score would I have a better chance at a private school? I really want to get into Emory, and my essay is just really different, I talk about my photography company working with agency models from around the world. (I'm international), so would a private school look more closely at your essays?

Don’t believe myths, private schools care about stats too. It is true that many public college just care about stats. But many publics do look at soft factors too.

Once you have the stats, especially at highly selective schools, essays can tilt you in. But public or private, if you don’t have the stats they’re looking for you’re unlikely to get in.

Emory’s 25th percentile stats are 640 CR and 660 math. If your scores are at least above that, it would have to be a pretty awesome essay to get in.
