I know they require high GPAs, but what do they value most in a transfer app

GPA? ECs? Recs? or ESSAY on transferring?

GPA? ECs? Recs? or ESSAY on transferring?

overall personality of the applicant and reasons of attending the school.

with that said, everything else has to be stellar: grades, recs, etc.

An essay can cure the sick... but not heal the dead. From my research strong GPA, EC's, Recs are required; the essay seems to serve as a deciding factor. Yet, w/o serious credentials it will be a losing battle. However, give it a whirl, you never can know for sure till you try.

EVERYTHING is important.

ok, now let me ask you: will it make a big difference if I take 4 courses versus 5 courses my first semester?

I'm thinking 4 courses will help me keep my GPA way up, and 5 might depress it a bit, but 5 courses will keep me more competitive?

Can someone comment on this? Thanks.

why not take 6? it's time to challenge yourself and become ivy league material.

haha i'll take that as a joke, since 6 could/would be overwhelming.
It's just i want to know do I have a better chance with 4 or 5 courses?
