Hey guys I just had a general sophomore transfer question. Assuming I transfer from a ~75 ranked national university's honors program with a 4.0 and for high school stats a 3.95 weighted GPA and 33+ ACT, exactly where would I be likely to get accepted inside the top 20? Or rather where would I have a significant chance of getting accepted? Also I have a very compelling reason to transfer/my essays will be good.

BAMP any ideas?

transferring to the very top tier schools (im assuming ivy league) requires not just good grades/test scores or w/e. they already have tons of students who are academically strong, and having good grades/test scores is more of a necessary condition than a guarantee of being admitted. think of it like an interview, the grades just get your foot in the door.

they are looking for the same types of people that they look for in freshman admissions, people who are genuinely interesting who come from a variety of backgrounds. in my opinion the essay is the most important part of the application. you would not be the only student with a 4.0 and high test scores applying to these schools. there are literally dozens of applicants with perfect GPA’s. the key is, in your essays (and activities), to differentiate yourself from the hundreds of other qualified applicants. don’t just be another bland applicant, you need to sell yourself to the admissions committee and do it in a way that they will remember you when it comes down to making the decisions.

Thank you, if I think I have compelling reasons and could write a very good essay now should I focus much on ECs in college before I transfer?
