Better in the sciences?

Right now I'm currently trying to decide between harvard and Yale. I want to go into the sciences, and everyone is always proclaiming that harvard is stronger in the sciences. What does this even mean? Are the teachers better? Or the research more interesting? Why do people say this?

Btw- I've been lurking a long time, but this is my first post!

People say all sorts of things without any knowledge and often with a bias. That is an example.

You should decide based on which school you want to attend, where you feel comfortable, and which you can better afford.

I sent you a PM, OP. Short answer: More of the top science kids do go to Harvard (or MIT) than Yale, but for my science-y son at Yale, science (Chemistry is his field of interest) is so far excellent. His Freshman Orgo class has plenty of brilliant peers and a professor who is renowned as a researcher, but even more so as an educator of chemists. There are also great, fully funded research opportunities for undergrads in a smaller pool than Harvard.

It seems like there are more and more questions about which program is better.

Unless there’s a significant problem you have with the Academics at one of the HYPS schools, you’re splitting hairs to compare their academics. Go with the school you are happier to live at. Its undergraduate school.
