Does anyone know of a better way to get to the DC Beltway other than Route 29 to 66? It took us forever with the lights, etc. Thanks.

64E to 95N

Sounds more confusing than it is, more scenic, and faster than 64 to 95

-US-250 E.
-Stay striaght to go onto VA-22 / LOUISA RD. 5.4 miles
-Stay straight to go onto VA-231 / GORDONSVILLE RD. Continue to follow VA-231 N. 9.5 miles
-Enter next roundabout and take 1st exit onto US-15 N. 3 miles
-Turn right onto VA-20 / BERRY HILL RD. Continue to follow VA-20. 22.2 miles
-Turn right onto GERMANNA HWY / VA-3 E. Continue to follow VA-3 E. 12.8 miles
-Merge onto I-95 N toward WASHINGTON.

If you go that way, be careful to observe the one small speed limit sign just south of Gordonsville on 231. The limit drops about 20 mph rather abruptly as you enter town and there is often a speed trap set up there. I used to live in a house about a mile south of the traffic circle and you could sit on the porch and watch them pull over four or five cars an hour.

By the way, the distance between the Gordonsville traffic circle and Rt. 20 in Orange is not 3 miles, it is more like 8 miles.

Thanks bassdad! That's just what came off of mapquest (which I have found is often not very reliable).

Great! Thanks to all, I knew this list wouldn't let me down!
