Is Iowa or Iowa state a better school for a person interested in business?

Hi BryanWalt
I cannot give you an answer on that specifically but what I can tell you is that the Business Department at Iowa State is VERY proud of the fact that ALL of their classes are taught by professors. They do not use TA’s or GA’s to teach classes. Their classes are small, except for the gen ed’s and they have a very very active job placement center. Iowa State also has one of the largest job fairs for students in the state.

One of my D’s best friends is going to be attending Iowa State for a business degree starting next year. Her parents both have undergrads from U Of Illinois and Masters from same. They are fully behind her decision. I think that says a lot.

You need to visit both campuses and you need to see what type of aid you get. If you are planning on getting an MBA or other Masters, I would definately go to which every college is cheapest.

That being said, we do love Iowa State. My older D is a soph and loves everything about it.
Good Luck!

Tippie is the higher ranked business school of the two and has a better reputation nationwide. Look at the US News and business week rankings online. That being said, the quality of education that you receive at either will be essentially the same as will be the quality of services such as the career center.

You may find that ISU will be substantially less expensive than Iowa. If that is the case then choose ISU. Either would be a fine choice.
