Better than...

Has anyone here done better on the SAT than the ACT?? People always say the ACT is easier. I want to try the SAT this fall after studying this summer, but the SAT/ACT puts my SAT score under 2100 (and my ACT score is above 30). So I'm wondering if it's even worth the risk?

bump. anyone?

Yes, of course there are people who have done better on the SAT. Give it a shot.

I think I’ve become more geared towards the SAT. I’ll probably take a practice paper at the end of the summer to see if I want to give it a shot just in case…

Actually, I always thought that I was more oriented toward the ACT. I mean I ALWAYS did better on the ACT on all my practice tests. However, I took the ACT in April and only got a 32 (long story but it was a bad day). Then, I took the SAT in May and got a 2250.

what do the various ACT scores equate to in SAT scores?

Like for example, what SAT range is a 32 equivalent to?

I think it is around 2150 for a 32

Yeah, lots of people say you need a 2250+ for good schools but that equates to a really high ACT score of 34. (well, I only know 3 people who got this or higher)

Idk I mean I know everyone says “Colleges dont prefer one over the other.” But come on, the SAT is a MUCH harder test in my opinion and it requires a more intimate knowledge of writing, reading, and math. Not one SAT section is easier than the corresponding ACT section, but most colleges superscore the SAT so ya.

^ ACT math has a bit of stuff that you won’t find on the SAT…

Ya but its all rly superficial stuff whereas the SAT asks in depth questions about fewer questions

i kind of agree with rtgrove. Like honestly, the top-tier colleges say that they don’t prefer one over the other, yet I can’t help but notice that at my high school at least , those students who take the ACT seem to have a lower admission rate at some of the more selective schools. This might just be my high school, so please correct me if I’m saying something totally off.

I agree, I know multiple people who make very average scores on the SAT, and then make 35s on the ACT

my friend, who is a korean immigrant and has an effing lisp that’s been bugging me since grade 9, got 1760 on the SAT I,then when he heard about the ACT and the science section of the test, he decided to take the test (he finished all highschool sciences in middle school back when he was in Korea;;;you know how korean fobs are like…) and he scored a 35 on the ACT…lol 1760 to a 35…I mean c’mon,

why are there two entrance tests anyway???

My SAT score was higher than the SAT score equivalent to what I got on the ACT lol…

So I’m screwed…

Anyone else have thought regarding this? Or better yet, anyone get a better score on the SAT than the ACT?

I did but it was all one big fluke (32 on ACT vs. 2250 on SAT)

If you have not prepped for either test, and are a relatively good student, you will do better on the ACT.

I don’t think it’s a fluke Rtgrove123.

I hear that the SAT is not bad if you have enough prep.

What if a kid is not a good student but needs either a 21 or a 980 M & CR. Which should he prep for over the summer?
