Would it be easier to get into a selective college (ivy-league level) by choosing to major in ecology or botany if you were trying to go to med school?

Would the chances be higher in either department if you were male/female?

Specific answers regarding Dartmouth, Cornell, or Swarthmore would be much appreciated.

At Cornell, you can study the biological sciences in CAS, CALS, and HUMEC, each of which have slightly different admissions policies (especially for NYS residents). There what matters is your choice of college(s) to apply to, not the major field. For the other two, your major isn’t going to matter much at all. Many students change their majors multiple times while they are in college.

No difference between male/female applicants in those (and most) majors.
