Hey guys! So here's the issue I really wanted to go to Italy to study abroad for engineering but I was talking to my friends mom and she was basically saying that it isn't worth it just cause the schools here are better.. That abroad the teaching ways are different. I also wanted to double major in international business and her mom also stated that Italian isn't as useful in the business world. I kinda see where she's coming from though now, what do you guys think? I'm kinda stuck and now unsure for next year

This isn’t really relevant to the engineering forum but I’ll reply anyway.

Italian won’t do much if anything for you in the business world unless you’re going to work in Italy. The way things are going, it looks like Italians aren’t even working in Italy!

Going abroad for your degree (assuming that’s what you mean, not just a one or two semester study abroad program) can be a really good idea if you do it for the right reasons and do it in the right place. In a lot of cases it can save you a lot of money on tuition and be a really valuable experience. You won’t likely be saving any money studying in Europe, though. You can’t generalize that US schools are better. Many of the best schools in the world are US schools, but so are some of the worst. Many of the best schools in the world are also overseas. You have to consider it on a case-by-case basis.

I think your friend’s mom is correct about that. An American university with an accredited engineering program is probably the best way to go, for both cost and education. As for international business, you can definitely learn some in university, and some on the job. Same goes for a new language if you’re motivated.

Thanks KamelAbkar i see where your coming from thats exactly what my friends mom said about italians! I’m thinking about taking up German what are your thoughts about that? I/m really into cars so i feel like that’d be benifical

And yes NeoDymium what engineering schools would you reccomend i live in ohio and have just now started to do some research in the area of good schools but language wise i think i might learn german

Start with this: [Accredited Program Search](http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx)
You can narrow your list down to the schools in Ohio that have accreditation in your field. After that, narrow it down to the ones that look reasonably good and then apply to those.

For accreditation recognition in the US of a non-US engineering degree program, you may want to read [ABET - Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs)](Mutual Recognition Agreements | ABET) .

Thanks Neo! Ill be sure to take a look at that! I appreciate the help :)
