does anyone know whether or not acting programs at schools such as Tisch, BU, CMU, Emerson look at demographics/class makeup when offering acceptances. For instance if several students audition from the same high school, same ethnicity, similar backgrounds etc do schools tend to only accept one student from that group? I mean does a school like Tisch ever take 3 middle class white suburban kids from the same high school?

Not really. The programs are small enough that it really doesn't matter. And statistically, it would be HIGHLY unlikely that Tish would ever take 3 kids from the same school in one year unless it was some amazing performing arts school.

I'd be less worried about geography and more worried about acting and getting in. It's pretty damn hard.

Good luck.

Some BFA programs do, however, "cast" their freshman class. In a given year, they may be looking for a particular "look", gender, vocal style or range. Some may look at the composition of the graduating senior class and try to fill in the "gaps" with incoming students. Not all BFA programs do this, but some have a reputation for doing so. This has been discussed before on on the musical theatre page.

in answer to the above post...."And statistically, it would be HIGHLY unlikely that Tish would ever take 3 kids from the same school in one year unless it was some amazing performing arts school."

Well I know for a fact that TISCH actually took "5" kids from the same AMAZING PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL!
