BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

Another vote for the spreadsheet! Made it through 3x with spreadsheets, wine and ice cream

@artskids More ice cream! Less spreadsheet hoarding! lol… for all my apparent disdain for organization, you’d be shocked at the Excel workbook I’ve got going. Like I’m trying to land a space ship on the moon.

Wine, and add chocolate! I am not good with formatting anything on the computer, so it’s just written down. We only have about 10 colleges though, so it’s not too bad. I know I’d be impressed to see how your spreadsheets look like!

This is our family’s third straight year of auditions and wine just doesn’t cut it anymore…on to the whiskey!!! :O)

@Gapyearguru three years of this?!? Double whiskey please

We are such good examples for our children

anyone having/had issues w Penn State? been calling and emailing but still cant get:
-the address of the theater building
-what material is expected (online they say they choose it for you from your prescreen material)
-time of audition
-whether or not we need extra clothes for the warmup
-where to park w/o being fined
im beyond confused & considering canceling my audition. any insight? answers to questions? similar experiences?

@tryingsohard - Sorry you are having trouble with Penn. When my D auditioned for them a few years ago, they sent us all the info we needed for the auditions. Honestly can’t remember if it was via acceptd, email or mail- but we had complete info well before the audition.

@tryingsohard- DD’s prescreen acceptance from Penn State said once we made audition appointment, we would get confirmation message (I presume that would be through Acceptd) with details on where to check-in, and info on nearby lodging. DD accepted admission elsewhere before Penn State prescreen was received so she didn’t schedule audition. We did, however, communicate with Penn State through Acceptd to decline audition and heard back from them very quickly. Maybe reach out through Acceptd? Good luck in your effort!

Has anyone heard from CCM that auditioned on campus a couple weeks ago? I have heard about some MT no’s but nothing from acting. Asking for a friend ?

@morgan830 D auditioned for them in NYC but no word here, and have not heard of anybody hearing anything. From reading past threads, it would not surprise me if they started communicating tomorrow (they seem to like Fridays). But it also wouldn’t surprise me if they waited until they finished in Chicago.

@Gapyearguru we are headed to Chicago Unifieds this weekend. Curious about the Julliard audition. Do you recall how many people were called back?

@collegeadmiss We were at Juilliard last Friday and my D was lucky to have a 9:30 am audition spot (the first) so we didn’t have to stick around all day. Her turn didn’t come until 10:30 though and they posted the first “second look” call back list shortly after - basically after each 1/3 of the 50 or so blocks of ppl auditioned. She said only 7 names were on that list (from her block). This is not the end of day call back though, which is posted around 2-ish after the “second-look” call-backs are done. My D said that there were so many people and she didn’t really enjoy the group warm-up/experience as much as I hoped she would. She said there were a lot of “older” (meaning MFA level) candidates. Juilliard said in a letter later that over 1800 applications were received this year. BAL!

@collegeadmiss From the first round, only 3 people out of my daughter’s block of 50 were called back.

Hi. My S auditioned for Acting at MMC last week and learned he was wait-listed yesterday. Any one know the wait-listed numbers and chances of getting in? Also any tips for Pace audition? He is adjusting for Acting.

*auditioning… Oh and we loved Muhlenberg.

@anitamac “adjusting” for Acting? Not sure what you meant by that. ?

@NYAndOne . Darn auto correct… I meant auditioning :slight_smile:

@AnitaMac - I know a kid who got off the waitlist at MMC and attends - so it does happen.

@toowonderful that is encouraging. Hoping it is a short list and turns to an acceptance. It is a top 2.
