@hamdog123 I believe that a large portion of us are waiting to hear from UNCSA. I haven’t heard of any calls going out. I’m sure that once the calls start we will all know one way or another. The waiting is tough!
@collegeadmiss I don’t have enough posts to PM you, but I wanted to let you know that Minnesota does have a waitlist for the Callback Weekend. My daughter was invited to the weekend, and we didn’t respond right away because they indicated that we had until noon on 2/22 to send in the travel forms if my daughter was coming. But just a few days after the initial invite (which came on 2/11 via the Acceptd portal), another email came to my email address asking for a response because they did have a waitlist. So I bet there will be some movement shortly after noon on 2/22 when they see how many intend to come from the initial Acceptd portal invites. So for the kids who haven’t gotten a Callback Weekend invite or a rejection, it could be because they are on the Callback Weekend waitlist.
Hi everyone…I have not been on for quite some time but I thought it was time to drop in! My daughter is a current sophomore (Class of 2021) at Loyola Marymount. She is currently spending the semester in Germany and having an unforgettable experience. Feel free to reach out with any questions and break a leg everyone! This too shall pass!
Sorry everyone - my post before was about UMichigan’s waitlist. The “he” I was referring to was Daniel Cantor, the Director of Performance for the BFA. He was quite engaging with the students and with the parents.
Fingers crossed for everyone as news rolls in.
Does it mean anything that a UNCSA student started following my D today! Maybe she’s getting a call soon. Probably just a total fluke!!
I thought the fact that my daughter has an amazing back up plan for next year, spending a year actually touring and performing, would make waiting to hear from UNCSA easier, but it doesn’t, at all. Eek!
Wowza @NervousMominGA ! If it’s UNCSA or bust, no wonder you are stressed! Didn’t she apply anywhere else?
UNCSA added an extra day of auditions for this coming weekend. A few notifications have gone out but the bulk will be after the 24th. That info is from the UNCSA info session this past weekend.
So I guess my S was right. LOL
@actinghopeful – UNCSA has a waitlist. And, they use it.
My son was fortunate to have several offers last year. He was waitlisted at UNCSA. We were down to the wire - third week in April and about to commit to another school when he got a spot a UNCSA. We made a quick trip to Winston-Salem to make sure he “felt it” on campus. He accepted their offer and has had a great first year.
I was actually anxious about him going to a school where he had been waitlisted, but after a conversation with the dean I felt fine. UNCSA does not offer a spot on the waitlist unless they know they want you. Sometimes it is just a numbers and puzzle game. Just as my son opened up spots on some other school’s waitlists, one was opened up for him.
Just be patience. Breathe. Be patient. (Easy to say from the chair of a mom whose kiddo is already in college.)
@actinghopeful Thank you for the reminder to breathe! It sure is a stressful time right now. I am also so happy to hear that your son has had such a great freshman year. I hope, like you, that in the next few weeks my D will have several great options. Do you happen to know how many students are actually admitted for the yield of class size they want?
They take about 30 students each year for the BFA program.
My son auditioned this past weekend. They said they accept 30 students and this year had 900 applicants for drama. He is on pins and needles right now waiting. He doesn’t want to get his hopes up but UNCSA is his top pick.
I heard 30 too, but most schools had mentioned to get that number they accept a larger amount. Just curious if it was the same with them. Thanks!
Anyone else get a small envelope from Point Park with “Special Invitation for Class of 2023” on the outside? We always let our D open these. Kinda looks like an acceptance… but might just be advance notice of Accepted Students Day? Do they put academic and artistic acceptances out separately?
@SoCalPops We received the same from Point Park yesterday. Accepted students day info. Still waiting…
@SoCalPops we got that. It didn’t even occur to me because we get so much stuff everyday but we hadn’t gotten academic acceptance yet from point park. We threw it away!
** edit— we had gotten academic acceptance in the fall. They’re running together ?
@SoCalPops Sorry…academic acceptance received quite awhile ago from Point Park, so yes, separate notifications.
Thanks @NYart15 @morgan830
My notes are that in the past, Point Park emails out notifications around 3/13 - 3/14.
