So Rutgers callback folks… how did it go?
They are still there!
@NJNYvt Oh, I didn’t realize it was still going on. How long does it go?
They are done today late afternoon.
There were two sets of Rutgers callbacks - one group went from Thursday -Saturday and the other group did Saturday-Monday. My S was in the first group. He absolutely loved the workshops, felt like he learned a lot, and was very impressed by the faculty (he is a huge Kevin Kittle fan), but came away uncertain that this is the school for him in terms of fit. He may be looking for something more performance-oriented and less of a true conservatory style. For example, he hadn’t realized that the Rutgers program really doesn’t allow time for student-led performances or collaboration. He was very complimentary of the weekend and the programming, and felt that it gave him a very true and clear look at what it would be like to be a student at Rutgers. It is an intense Meisner program, which is not for everyone. He still takes the school very seriously and of course would love to be admitted, but he’s taking this as a bit of a reminder that this entire process is about finding the school that is the perfect fit for him and his style, and it is NOT about the brand name. Lots of thinking yet to do.
@ThenSheSaidIt Thank you for all the info!
D just got acceptances through the mail from Arcadia and LIU-Post. Not sure if the portals said anything as I don’t think she has checked them today (or lately)
D received acceptance via email to LIU Brooklyn — BFA Acting for Theater, Film & TV.
D’s friend got Elon acceptance today.
My D got a rejection email from Elon today. If the rest of you haven’t heard anything yet I hope that means there are some “yes” answers coming your way!
Sorry @Gapyearguru ! It’s such a tough process.
@gish814, congratulations to your D on her acceptances! Would you please share when she auditioned for LIU Post and if she applied to the school before auditioning? We are anxiously awaiting a decision! Thanks
@NYDreammom Thanks-We’ve been thru this rollercoaster many times in the last three years and it doesn’t really phase us anymore! My D just lets it roll off and she moves on, thank goodness! Years of watching her sister go through this same thing really helped put everything in perspective ?
@MomOfMusical1 thank you. LIU was a walk in at Chicago Unifieds. She applied when we got back home.
@gish814 thanks for the info!
Just randomly checked the Penn State portal, and saw an acceptance for S. No email went out or anything. A very nice surprise!
Wow! Congratulations, @MomMimi ! That’s fabulous!
Congratulations on all the acceptances. And I empathize with the rejections. We kind of ended up with an approach that was, it’s okay to be sad for 24 hours, and then try to bounce and move on. It’s whatever works in your house, but whatever reaction you have had, I assure you, someone else has had it too! You are not alone!
@morgan830 Hi there
Just seeing your post about CCPA, our S is a sophomore in their program and loves it. Welcome to reach out if you have specific questions
Random thought this morning. Does anyone have feedback about signing up for housing wherever our students eventually end up? For those who have been through this before: is there ever an issue for these acting kids securing a place to live on campus since they must be the last to know at many of these schools? Is there anything we should be doing now? Random things that I worry about during this horrible wait!!!
