@dramama3 good to know! Now my D can expect a “no” and move on.
@theaterlove3 yes, this process is so taxing on students and parents! Hard to know what to think about Purchase audition process, hopefully we will get a decision soon and the uncertainty can be over. We all have kids with a lot of decisions to make and until we have all the info it is hard to get to that stage of the process.
@NoMoreDrama - my S is a freshman in acting at DePaul. He has a few classmates who moved from the waitlist.
Purchase also taped people in Chicago
@AustinMomof4 @Gapyearguru and others. My S did not get into Fordham audition BA last year. He received an email at about 4 pm on Friday March 16th last year. He was invited to attend with a different major. Seems to me that you will know either way very soon. Hoping for the best!!
Marymount talent scholarships. Anyone receive additional talent scholarship money from Marymount? If so, how and when were you notified?? Thanks!
Can you message me re: Pace? I’m a newbie and cannot message you @love2share
@morgan830 Hi. This is from last year but after receiving a good academic scholarship my D then received a $2000 Arts scholarship. I was told that was the most and there were not many. Hope this helps!
@morgan830 From last year I recall they said talent scholarships ranged from $2000-6000. Ours came with initial academic merit award and talent . I think you can request a higher amount, but I don’t think talent will go beyond 6k.
@morgan830 My D was notified initially of her MMC talent scholarship of $3000 online about 2 weeks after her acceptance notification.
@AustinMomof4 thank you! So if we’ve received an updated financial aid letter, that’s probably it?
@morgan830 We did receive the financial aid letter AFTER the talent scholarship letter and it included both scholarship money and aid. My D did apply early action, so I don’t know if that has anything to with the timing either.
Rider still sending notifications. D’s portal just updated and it’s a no. Good options she likes better elsewhere so not upset by this one.
Any news from Pace BFA acting today? :-SS
@jrutledge I was just wondering the same thing about Pace BFA Acting and their FCTV program as well.
Maybe it’s just sour-grapes, but the celebrity SAT/recruitment scandal is more than a little irritating–even for those of us going the BFA route. Granted, NYU and USC were never an option for us because of the academic stats, but I’m a bit surprised that celebrities like Wm. H. Macy felt they needed to hire someone to take the test for their kid. He was interviewed a few weeks ago stating that she was auditioning for NYU. Now it turns out he and Felicity Huffman are on the FBI indictment. Macy, of all people, shouldn’t need to buy scores to get into NYU He started the Atlantic Theatre Company which I believe is one of the Tisch studios. If my kid were waitlisted at one of those schools, I would feel very burned right about now.
@nyermom I thought I read in that case that William H Macy was NOT charged, only Felicity. Did I miss something? I know in Lori Loughlin’s case both her and her husband were indicted. Knowing everything that our kids and the parents are going through at this time of year waiting to find out if our kid is bestowed with one of those rare BFA program slots, it is infuriating to hear that people are gaming the system in a more systematic and devious way than wealthy families typically game the system.
@FamLawTX It’s odd. I read the indictment and the complaint. Wm Macy is referred to as “her husband” and was apparently involved but was not included in the charging documents.
@nyermom Macy’s kid apparently is a mediocre academic student. The SAT cheating they did boosted her score 400 points to a 1420. So had they not cheated, and gone the honest route of SAT test prep/tutors, the kid probably would have had an SAT of around 1200. That’s not enough to get into NYU or USC. Looks like they paid dishonest money to avoid being embarrassed by their kids poor academics.
@frontrowmama d’s Academic scholarship came a long time ago from Marymount. She didn’t audition until February at a regional. We got program acceptance followed by a new financial aid letter but no mention of additional talent scholarship. I was hoping for a little more ?. D loves it there.
