My daughter applied to Syracuse for acting and got a callback via Acceptd. I’m not sure if design/tech is different that acting!?
I had to submit my portfolio through SlideRoom, but I haven’t gotten any notifications from their website yet. I might email tomorrow and ask.
My daughter is an acting major at Syracuse. They were very responsive to emails and phone calls last year during the application/audition process. She also applied for theatre management and had to submit thru slide room and the notification for that interview was sent via email. It may be different this year.
USC emails are out… good luck all!
This is for acting callbacks correct?
Yup, for BFA callbacks. My D didn’t get an invite, but she received her email and will wait to hear about the BA program.
Anyone hear about CalArts callbacks???
My D is in the same boat. Good luck!
I think I read they said by the 15th. Ugh!
Any idea how long the interviews are for UCLA and why they aren’t doing auditions this year? My D really doesn’t know what to expect as other schools have done standard auditions just over zoom. Really a crazy year!
I don’t really know but my D said they were pretty clear about it not being an audition. I’ll ask my D if she has heard anything about what the interview is like and will let you know!
I emailed yesterday, apparently they aren’t doing any interviews this year. Good to know!
Hi All. I’m new to this thread. My daughter had her UNCSA audition on Sunday and in the room they asked her for her third piece even though they said they’d only be asking for 2 of the 3. Does this mean anything? She said she felt a really strong connection to the auditors and the school. Hoping that this counts as a mini “callback” of sorts!
momofdrama The only information my daughter has about the interview is in the confirmation email she received from UCLA after signing up for a time. It says " In the Lobby Meeting, you will be meeting as part of a group and will have a chance to meet current UCLA students and other applicants. The meeting will begin with an information session about our program. Following the information session, you will be called to meet individually with a faculty member to discuss your goals and aspirations in studying at a university. Please plan on spending about 2 hours online with us.
If you are an applicant to Acting or Musical Theater, you will not be asked to perform your monologue or songs." She had something similar for Syracuse as well. Sorry I couldn’t provide an additional information!
@JaysMom356 Good luck with UNCSA. It’s a special place. D had a great audition there last yr and unfortunately wasn’t selected but she really liked the program and we were blown away by the heads of the program at the info session. D was actually the last one to go on the last day (don’t know if that had anything to do with it). She came out of the audition with a couple of students who were sitting in on things. You would have thought they were all best friends. She was even told they’d put in a good word for her, she was wonderful, etc. But no such luck. It’s fine as she wanted to be and is in NY but that would have been hard to turn down.
Thank you so much! My daughter only applied to 3 drama schools and it’s her top choice so fingers are crossed. If I may ask, where is your D studying now?
Thanks, we will see what happens tomorrow!
She’s at Molloy / CAP21. Fairly similar approach as UNCSA. Mostly about the training with lots of projects (which are performances but focused on specific skills) vs. mainstage performances. They do that but it comes later in the development of the actor.
If any of your students have questions about the UMN-Guthrie Callback Weekend, please encourage them to join the Callback Weekend Facebook Group. It is a great way to meet other students in the program and others at the audition. Message me if you need the link!
You auditioned for NYU and they already offered you an acceptance?? Was it rich tree after your audition??
