Hi! Linking this thread here for anyone that wants to share their acceptances:
I did ED1. I auditioned in November and was accepted in December!
@starbuck—-my DD was told the same at the conclusion of her Acting audition.
Sorry for my confusion, @Mamacitateatro. Are you saying your DD applied to NYU Regular Decision and was told at the end of her audition that she was accepted? Thanks for clarifying!
Does anybody know how meaningful a callback to CalArts Acting is? I know a callback is always “good,” but does CalArts call back a slew of Acting applicants or is the pool of callbacks fairly selective? Thank you!
No, I’m Sorry, not NYU…Pace!
Thank you @Mamacitateatro. My daughter received a callback audition for Pace Screen Acting, but was just thanked and dismissed afterward, so I’m guessing that’s not a good sign. I’m trying to keep my anxiety over this whole thing to myself, so appreciate you all being here.
Pace handled those two acting auditions differently. Don’t worry! The BFA acting was cuts throughout the day and they told the kids that if they were left standing they were either getting an offer or would be waitlisted. For acting for camera, they just had one audition and no cuts and told the kids they would hear in early March (same for Musical theatre).
Totally concur with moosegirlmy2! One less thing to stress over
Insdiego: I am so sorry to add to your stress, truly. Our daughter applied for MT, and was redirected to Acting and Screen Acting. For Screen Acting, they dismissed them and for Acting, they pulled them into a room after and said “if you are here you are either WL or in.”
My attitude is until it’s in writing, I don’t know that it happened…and a WL that doesn’t come through is a no by a different name. So I am most definitely counting on nothing until it’s in writing.
However, pls do not worry—-for SCREEN ACTING, they dismissed them so I truly apologize for not clarifying and giving you anxiety. I hope you read this soon.
This process is so hard for us parents. Just devastating, right? Luckily our kids are resilient, which is good because this industry requires it.
I wish you what I wish myself daily—peace! Peace and April to get here.
Thank you, @moosegirlemy2 . You and others are so helpful. Honestly, I have 3 kids — two in college (not Performing Arts). Going through this application/audition process with my youngest is a whole new, somewhat excruciating, process! It’s exponentially more difficult than the standard college application process.
You’re the best, @Mamacitateatro! Thank you for your reassuring words. Yes, the stress is all about watching the highs and lows of callback, no callback. Good audition, questionable audition. Chatty interviewer, icy interviewer. Rejection, no response. And some of it seems so arbitrary, though I’m sure there is a rational process behind it all.
Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I had a quick question about the New School’s BFA Acting program. Does anyone know how many students are admitted every year? Thank you very much!
Hi everyone! Have any of your kids gotten a call from UNCSA this week saying that they are in serious consideration and should keep the weekend for admitted students open? Mine is super excited but I’m worried that maybe these calls don’t always result in an acceptance.
Don’t know the numbers but my D was admitted EA and at the welcome student meeting there were about 30 students in the session.
From what I remember reading in years past, they do select a few to call with that info while they still have auditions to go. Once auditions are complete, she’ll get her official call. Congratulations! I highly doubt UNCSA would mess with a kid’s emotions like that. But I do understand wanting to temper excitement until it’s official.
Has anybody else’s son or daughter received a callback from CalArts acting? My daughter did, but, much to her disappointment, she was not called back to BU, DePaul or Chapman and was not accepted to UNCSA. She did get callbacks to some decent schools, but we are waiting for final decisions and I am getting nervous and wondered about her chances at a school like CalArts! Does CalArts call back a huge proportion of Acting applicants, or is the callback pool pretty small?
Sorry I cant answer your question but just wondering why you are saying your D didnt get accepted to UNCSA? DId she get a formal no or just no call this weekend?
Us too regarding Pace BFA film/Tv. There was no additional call back or being told WL or Yes. I guess we wait.
Thank you, @helpingthekid73. My daughter completed the online audition (no prescreen) for UNCSA Acting on January 26th and she never received another email or callback request, so I thought that meant she was like longer under consideration.
