BFA Acting Class of 2025: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

Agreed. They are pretty swift at making cuts, so if aren’t cutting someone, then they truly are, I’m guessing, still in the mix.

When she made it to the acting the portion, it was one woman and she said you should be proud you made it this far. There are only 60 left. My daughter felt like it went really well, she was given some direction and the woman said she made great adjustments and that she could tell my daughter was passionate about that monologue. Less than 12 hours later she was cut, LOL. She was all MT, never redirected to acting. She then stated that she was done trying to read into any auditions, (which she really knew already). We both knew CMU was a long shot. I am super proud of her. BAL everyone!

She did not end up using one of the big coaching companies. She tried them out but it wasn’t a great fit. She ended up doing some work with someone she knew locally who teaches and does some coaching.

Round 4 looked like it had around 250 slots. So if they called back around 30, the question is did everyone else get the you’re still in the running email? And is that 30 just for acting or is that MT too. So basically I guess we may never know and now we just wait.

I know they do a waitlist, so they may not offer much or any over the 12 since they have such a high yield.

Oh, and no, my daughter also had a male adjudicator each time.

Best of luck to all those called back and those in the waiting pool!

They made cuts after the 250-kid callback weekend. So no way to really know what the number of remaining applicants was after those cuts.

We used MTCA and they provided my D with really great coaches. Their selections were fantastic and I loved the way they worked with her. I feel like it was worth it.

Totally agree, my S is an “unusual” type and we have had very very good results with MTCA with three acceptances and much more success with highly competitive programs than I ever expected and they were a big part of it.

No, it’s definitely just acting, not MT too. You’re all great at the math. I just make sure she’s awake at the right time!

That’s a hard job too!! Tech support, alarm, cheerleader.

thanks  And now with pilot season I’m going to add scene reader to my resume too. So far today alone I’ve been a teenage girl, two boys and a mom.

Yes, this is exactly what my S had. Singing, then 2 acting auditions. And now the “you’re still in the game” email. In this forum, it like there are at least 6 of us in this boat, right?
BAL to your D this weekend!

Hi! Can you define unusual type? And is he MT or Acting? Thanks!

He is acting, messaged you with the details.

I count 4 of us - your son, my son, drama student 25, somuchdrama’s D and tennessee1’s D. And 1 callback for final audition(theatremom1314’s D)
