Big 4 Internship

Hey everyone! I had a few questions on the likelihood of getting an internship at a Big Four firm. I was originally a public relations and economics double major, but after taking accounting, I've really fallen in love with it and I think that's what i want to pursue. my question is about the likelihood of me being able to get a big four internship next summer given that my past experiences have been in the communications/PR world (although i'm sure i can figure out a way to relate them to the business world). Other info:

-i will be a 2nd year this year, but with junior standing
-3.73 GPA right now, should be higher after next semester
-respected state university in the south
-my work/internship experience:
communications intern at a congressional campaign, PR intern at a non-profit organization this summer, lots of communications leadership positions in extra-curricular clubs, part-time job, etc.

so, hypothetically, if i get more involved with accounting/business clubs this year and find some leadership positions in those, do you think it would be possible for me to get an internship for next summer?

thanks in advance!

if its the summer before the year you graduate with cpa exam eligibility (typically 150 credits), then yes, you’ll probably get some interviews. if no, your not eligible.

if the interviewer likes your personality more than the other people he/she interviews, you’ll get an offer. If he/she doesnt, then you won’t.

Percentage wise, the odds are probably still against you, but no more so than the masses of acctg majors w/ good grades wanting big4 internships. idk, i’d say you have a 35-50%shot, depending on how heavily recruited your school is, and the gpa’s of your fellow students.

If your really personable and charming, then your probably golden.

“if its the summer before the year you graduate with cpa exam eligibility (typically 150 credits), then yes, you’ll probably get some interviews. if no, your not eligible.”

I guess that’s their way of trimming the amount of people who take advantage of tuition reimbusement to get the 150…

You have to be eligible to sit for the CPA I believe to get hired by a Big 4 firm, so not sure what you are really trying to say about tuition reimbursement. I’ll echo the above post that states that you probably don’t have a good chance.

Do you have to have to be CPA eligible to be in advisory? I know you do for audit or tax.

Not necessarily. It depends on the firm and the position. In many advisory roles you have to have a good amount of accounting background or a dual degree with one in accounting.
