Big Bang Theory-TV

In the tv show The Big Bang Theory, it seems (to me anyway) that the un-named university they work at is Cal Tech. Given CalTech's reputation for a sense of humor, I wonder how the students view this TV series.
thanks

Yes, it is Caltech. I haven't seen it yet but all of my friends who have think it is quite funny.

Have they finally done a good job of not making smart people look like pretentious a-holes that have no sense of how to properly socialize?

Well, I just watched the first episode of season one and thought that the show was mediocre. That being said, that's not really related to not having a sense of humor--for example, these guys seem to excel at placing themselves in awkward situations. I can tell you from experience that the people at Caltech with no social skills wouldn't go introduce themselves awkwardly to the girl next door, they would just shuffle by with their head down to avoid eye contact. I suppose that doesn't really make for a humorous situation, though.

Also, who makes jokes about toddlers and integrals?

Then again, I'm not usually a fan of the "awkward relationship" type-sitcoms. So unfortunately I'd have to answer your question with a no, RacinReaver.
