Big Mistake...What happens now?

I'm 17 and I was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting on December 12...all my applications had already been completed and submitted and, still to this day, I haven't been to court (therefore have not been convicted but I plan to plead guilty and take what punishment they give me). I'm not going to sit here and give excuses (nor have I tried since) but, I can say that I am taking all routes to get it expunged off my record ASAP! Like I said, big mistake and one that's going to be with me for a very long time.

My question is, what are the chances that this charge (my first violation of ANY kind...unless you count day suspension in the 3rd grade for fighting) will affect my admission status? I applied to Boston College, Boston University and Northeastern University and I have not a clue how this all works... I've lost a lot of sleep over this and am plagued with worry. Can anyone help me? What happens now?

this is a pretty serious question that you probably ought to ask your GC. as for affecting your college admissions status, i'd have to say this won't help you... but it may not hurt you either.

My GC just told me that I should admit it to the institutions and take all actions to get it removed from my record...therefore showing that I have the maturity to admit my fault and learn from my mistake.

^^^
yea if you do all that it probably won't hurt your chances much if at all.

what did you end up doing? and what sort of consequences did you face?
