Big news! Business schools merge

From the Fordham web site:

"I write to share some exciting news about business education at Fordham. In September 2014, the Gabelli School of Business and the Graduate School of Business Administration will commence a yearlong process of unification under the leadership of Donna Rapaccioli, Ph.D.

Dean Rapaccioli will oversee a reorganization that will result in one strong business school the priorities of which are innovation in faculty research and teaching, and, most importantly, student outcomes. A talented administrator and business scholar, she has proven herself as dean of business faculty since 2009 and dean of the undergraduate school since 2007."

I long ago noted that the top, best business schools were one school that offered undergraduate and graduate degrees and known by one name; I always felt that having 2 separate business schools prevented the best use of resources and was a step behind the times. It also affected ranking as each school (GBA + Gabelli) was compared to other schools with greater total resources, so each was a little shortchanged in comparison. I think this is an excellent move that will only raise the ranking and reputation of Gabelli.

You future Gabelli grads will spoken of in the same groupings as Wharton, Yale, Harvard, Stern, Kellog, Carrol, Mendoza and many others. These are exciting times for Gabelli!

Sounds like a good plan. Very exciting news for everyone.

Where did you see this news?

The Fordham.edu site.

don’t see it…?

Ignore my other post I put in the other thread, I found it. Here :)

<a href=“Fordham University”>http://www.fordham.edu/Campus_Resources/eNewsroom/topstories_3190.asp</a></p>

The fact that there is a solid and established Grad school already in place makes Gabelli a major Business School in a crowded field where the majority of business schools are undergrad focused and offer no more than an MBA. The addition of PhD programs pushes Gabelli into a rarefied altitude of very few and the very best schools of business!

Thanks for posting that Reader13!

Pretty sweet. As someone who was planning to go to Fordham Business for grad school, this can only be good news.
