Big News From Harry and Meghan - Royal Family Stepping Back

These people need to step away.

Unfortunately, they feel they need to make a lot of money and are willing to sell out to do so.

It’s painful to watch.

“I wasn’t in an environment where it was encouraged to talk about it either.”

He was in the UK. The expectation of a “stiff upper lip” is entirely typical, royal family or not.

Lol they must really need some money.

I still can’t figure out what Harry is trying to accomplish by having these interviews. Does he really hate his family that much? I just sit here shaking my head.

We lived in London for 3 years and were living there when Diana died. It was such a shock. I think she would be horrified by these interviews, especially in light of all of the lies told her to get the Martin Bashir interview.

You never hear any of the other members of the younger Royal Family members mouthing off. I’m sure some of them who also come from ‘broken homes’ would have hair raising stories - the children of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden for example. Or Beatrice and Eugenie with tales of the strange relationship between Andrew and Fergie. But they don’t go on Oprah and spill the beans or their guts.

This is what i was thinking because they need something after leaving royal family and harry was trying to discuss it what he felt and it is easiest way to stay in news and so people will discuss about you.

I feel like Harry is doing therapy on TV. It should stay private. I can’t watch

I do believe he is telling the truth, and in his mind is getting revenge. But he’s not looking far enough down the road. He’s burning bridges. His children will now not have close cousins. I think it was a bad move. Leaving the Royals was all that really needed to be said.

Seems a bit ironic that there are so many negative comments here criticizing negative comments. Good for him talking about the need to address mental health issues.

At least his brother seems decent. The self-absorption and self-pity from this couple is just staggering.

Just a thought: there is an expression for people who have been survivors of abuse or trauma- its called finding your voice.

I’m all for encouraging people to go to therapy/psychiatrists and get help for mental illness. Is that what he’s doing? Or is he just publicly airing his dirty laundry?

You can find your voice without an Oprah interview.

One might expect that one of the most wealthy and privileged people on the planet could use their voice for those less fortunate rather than focus on their own issues. A bit of perspective. There are millions of starving orphans who are presently suffering far worse trauma and abuse.

Even the Duke of Windsor who had to leave the throne for what today seems like a silly reason and cruel to boot, never publicly aired his grievances. In his TV interviews later in life, he never name-called or made disparaging comments about his brother, or sister-in-law or niece. He never called out his father for the father’s cold treatment.

Harry has hit a new low.

If their real reason for ‘going public’ is to raise money, I don’t think they are appealing to the right group. The Oprah/People magazine crowd aren’t the big bucks folks. They can sell their stories all they want, sell pics of their new baby, throw fundraisers, but it’s never going to be as much as it would have been had they stayed royal.

If they are doing it hoping the royal family will think “OMG, we’ve really wronged them! Please come back!!!” that’s not going to happen. And of course this was never necessary as the royals would have been fine with them staying all along under almost any terms they wanted to set - work for the Firm, do just social things, run their own charities…with security provided.

There is an expression: you can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself first. And just because they have privilege doesn’t minimize their abuse and trauma.

Seems the latest public comments were in response to the admission that the BBC interview with Diana was secured in a dishonest way, manipulating both records and Diana. It’s understandable that this is triggering issues for Harry and William. No need to minimize their pain just because someone else had it worse. It’s not a contest.

I have been tempted to jump back in here but am thankful @jym626 is saying what I would say and so don’t have to.

How is what I said anything about a contest? I’m not minimizing their pain. You and I clearly hold different opinions about airing family issues in public. Harry claims to hate the press yet he’s constantly looking for coverage.

It was roycroftmom who commented about others having it worse. Its irrelevant.
