<p>I am a freshman at a very selective high school for medicine, and I was researching information on combined BS/MD programs. However, I noticed that a lot of the programs require that you be in the top 10 percent of your graduating class. There is only 75 students in my grade, and I am not in the top 10. Do colleges make exceptions for schools like mine?</p>
<p>dude you still have a few years to raise your rank and decide if you want to apply to bs/md programs. Just work hard.</p>
<p>doctordime13 - Glad to see that you are already looking into this. My advice would be to worry about high school for now and do as well as you can. There are some programs that absolutely will not even look into your app if you are not in the top 10% but guess what there are many that do not use that criteria. Good luck with your high school. Enjoy this time because soon you will be like me almost finishing my undergrad and looking at the med school.</p>

<p>May I just ask, though, what exactly is a “High school for medicine”? (or did you just mean that you’re in high school with an interest in medicine?)</p>
<p>People have gone crazy in 9th grade to become doctors. Damn parents pushing the Indian kids.</p>
<p>^^^^^ LOVE. i’m indian but my parents told me i could be anything i want ( with of course exceptions lol). BUT i choose entering the medical field becuase i genuinely like science and healthcare.</p>
<p>I went to a medical magnet type high school with ~70 kids in the graduating class. The small class size didn’t seem to affect anything for BS/MD programs but my high school also made it clear they didn’t rank.</p>

and im a little worried about my class rank. i think i can make 35% even if there is no class rank. i just regret being so lazy back in ninth grade…</p>
