BIGGEST difference between CAS and CALS?

What do you think is the biggest difference between CAS and CALS?????

That CAS is an endowed college and CALS is a contract college…?

CAS is liberal arts, CALS is life science… and agriculture…

CALS has an L?

the number of new yorkers…

LOL @ third sibling
yea i would say the L is the biggest difference

check each college’s website to see the different majors/courses offered.

foreign language requirement

They have different course distribution requirements, and each specifies # courses/ credits one must take within one’s own college, vs. can be taken outside of it. They offer diffent majors and programs of study, other than Biology. So the choice depends on what you want to learn in college, both in terms of prospective majors and everything else.

CALS is cost-advantaged, for those NYS residents who would likely not otherwise quality for much financial aid.

cas is gearged towards liberal arts/hard sciences/language studies, etc. cals is more for applied life sciences/food industry/agriculture. they share the biology department, so these are filled with both cals and cas bio students.

tons of differences. much of cals is ny students because of the cost benefits, while an out of stater may be inclined to cas. but there are out of staters who chose cals because of their desired major; i.e. animal science or food science.

^how about if i wanna do genetic engineering in the future?it means that i have to take BIOLOGY right?so which college should i apply to ?CALS or CAS? im from NEW YORK btw

CALS for biological engineering seems like a proper choice.

what’s the difference between the program of biological engineering of CALS and that of CoE?

The only differences are two courses:

The BEE specific Matlab Course
and The BEE Experience is used instead of an ENGRI.

does CALS also have business majors and applied econ?
which one would be better: reg econ in CAS or taking applied econ in CALS? assuming i want to do business in the future…

Assuming you want to go to college in the future, you should really learn how to be more self-reliant and look on Cornell’s website, where all of your questions can and will be answered:

http://admissions.cornell.edu/downloads/business_bulletin.pdf

thanks for the link

I wouldn’t take too much stock in what people are saying because after “reimaging cornell” is complete who knows how things will look.

elaborate on this reimaging thing

he’s just trying to **** with you, its just an initiative to try to reduce costs by streamlining certain things, no major changes in the University’s structure are likely to occur. They’re still in the research phase as far as I know so no one knows exactly what it will entail.
