I'm applying to study biology at Cornell, but I'm not sure which college I should apply to? Would majoring in Biological Sciences in CALS have advantages over doing so in the CAS, or vice versa?

Are you a NYS resident? If so, CALS will be substantially cheaper than CAS. Otherwise, the differences will rest primarily in the different college’s requirements for graduation rather than within the Biological Sciences major. If I understand correctly, CAS has a more liberal arts-based focus while CALS requires more STEM courses.

the post above me has it entirely correct. to be very clear: the requirements of the biology major are entirely the same in both colleges. you’re in the same classes with the same professors, and you also have the same research opportunities.

being in CALS is much easier. This is because CAS has lots of really annoying liberal arts class requirements you have to take, and some of them can be hard
