Is a bike a good idea at Penn? What type of lock should I use? Are there indoor bike rooms? Etc. Thank you.

You really don't need a bike (especially if you're living on campus), unless you really like to ride and will ride all over the city. Otherwise it's a waste.

Some dorms have indoor stands and others don't. I know Hill has indoor space but I don't know that the quad does, and I know the highrises don't (other than in your room).

You probably won't use it much if you do bring one. It's just not necessary with all that's walkable in philly. (And anything that's too far to walk in the city can be gotten to on SEPTA or by taxi very easily).

If you do bring a bike, get the best solid (no chains or anything) lock you can, and get a couple. There's a very high rate of bike theft around campus.

Thanks. Looks like no bike for me.
