You + Bike + One Semester ~= You + No Bike

or in the best case scenario:

http://thegoat.backcountry.com/blog/files/2009/01/stolen-bike.jpg

I’m not sure I gather what you’re trying to say…

They get stolen. I saw too many bike frames and bike wheels locked to an iron bar.

No, you don’t need one, unless you want to be part of the cycling club. You can’t bike on Locust at peak hours anyway.

I really enjoy having a bike since I live a couple blocks off campus… it’s nice to be a five minute ride from DRL when living a mile away at 42nd and Locust. That said, it’s unnecessary.

They can be handy if you take care to lock them up the PROPER way. Yes, there is a proper way. Ask someone if you want to know. Then again, they can be a hell of a hassle. You’ll just have to decide for yourself.

http://www.funny-potato.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/lock-bike.jpg

Make sure you use U-Lock to lock every single removable part of your bike, e.g. wheels, which can be hell of a hassle as Neviar stated. However, I don’t see how you can lock the bike seat though…

You really don’t need a bike. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring one if you’d use it often/be able to lock everything down (things DO get stolen very often). Just keep em off Locust (there are no-bike hours). It’s really annoying to be walking there only to sidestep inconsiderate bikers.
