I was thinking-- wow he looks a lot like XXX. Then Googled and saw that it was!
It took me a minute to recognize him. That was great but Uncle Colm got the award!!!
I was wondering if Iād recognize who the cameo was, but no doubt the minute he walked in! That was great! We watched the first two episodes tonight, but trying not to run through too fast because itās too good to finish yet!
Just as amazing as the first two seasons.
Iām binging BBC Ghosts and itās becoming hard because the ghosts are so mean and self centered. It often feels like the show is describing a dream thatās become a living nightmare (which may reflect how many Brits feel right now, but still, hard). CBS Ghosts is sweeter, or at least, less depressing and less dark - generally, at least one of the ghosts rallies or tries his/her best not to be detestable or something may seem hopeful even if it doesnāt go exactly rightā¦
If youāve seen it: Iām watching S2 E3, does it get a bit better or is it nightmare after nightmare?
Yes, although Julian is the slowest to evolve, and heās still not there.
Does it ever become as light as the CBS version? No.
S2E04 and S2E05 are a marked improvement: the ghosts stop being insufferable, we get to know a bit of their backstory (also with S2E03 which is the pivot in āmoodā for me) and while they remain themselves+Mike/Allison remain goofy&inept, the show doesnāt feel as bleak as before. so, yay!
Agreed, getting more of the ghostsā backstories really helped.
Just finished Derry Girls. It just got better and better. The last three episodes were like watching a movie. I laughed a lot, as usual, but also cried a lotā¦ I canāt believe itās over.
And yes, that last cameo was not expected.
We started to re-watch season 3 after watching it on our flights to/from Dublin last month. Wow, we missed so many good lines watching it through the noise of a jet flight.
I donāt actually know what constitutes ābinge watchingā - I canāt say Iāve ever done it, except back in the olden days when Thanksgiving brought the Twilight Zone marathon! Or Christmas day when the marathon was I Love Lucy! What a treat those were!
Ok, butā¦if this counts, Iāve recently discovered Landscape Artist of the Year and Portrait Artist of the Yearā¦both are British ācompetitionā shows (think British Bake Off) - as a new watercolor explorer, I was immediately sucked in to these shows as they really go pretty deep into the artistās processes, and the ācompetitionā is very friendly and not at all competitive!
In 5 days Iāve gone through 24 episodes (probably not a true binge) and am ready to tackle some more.
It counts.
I binge watch āAlone,ā a survival show. I donāt know why I find it so fascinating. I think I like seeing people suffer while I sit on the couch.
@JustaMom , thanks for posting this. Iāve never seen it but my sister is a plein air artist and she would love the Landscape Artist of the Year show! I canāt wait to tell her about it .
@patsmom I found it on 2 platforms, Tubi 100% free, with a few commercials, and also on Amazon Prime Video free, with a few commercials with a Prime membership.
finished Friday Night Lights and loved it; thanks to the recommendations here. Even Rolling Stone mag has it on its top 25 of all time tv series. Iām actually feeling a little sad itās over for me. SO - now on to find a new series. my S15 thinks i should go to the Y everytime i have an urge to binge watch. maybe iāll consider doing that as well.
We never watch anything without closed captioning. My friend who is a reading specialist thinks thatās why both my kids were reading by age 4.
I was trying to watch Derry Girls but my syncing on Netflix is off, so it is really hard to try to listen, watch the close captioning, and watch the video at the same time.
I donāt know why the syncing is off. Off a little on Prime too (noticed during the football game that the audio (whistle) was about 3 seconds ahead of the action. There is running through the whistle and there is still being upright when the whistle blows.
When this happens to us, I turn off (unplug) the TV monitor, the router, and chrome stick, and cable etc. Wait at least 30 seconds. Then turn every thing back on. It seems to reconnect.
We are enjoying āThe Empressā on Netflix. I wish it were more than six episodes, though! Maybe there will be a second season. Itās about Sisi, the Austrian empress in the mid-1800s. I knew about her because my mom, an avid doll collector, bought a beautiful doll of Sisi years ago and I looked up her story. Itās the only one my dad kept after Momās passing. He keeps it in a bay window in his retirement home. I definitely recommend this show.
I watched The Empress as well. I found it OK, not great. Unsurprisingly, there is a lot of artistic license in play here.
I hope they do a second season, because from a historical perspective, the eras shown are the least interesting of her life.
As an FYI for others, itās in German (with bits of Hungarian). Since I didnāt watch with English subtitles, I canāt vouch for their accuracy.
