Binge watched tv shows

Hey folks–looking for Borgen fans. We just finished the third season. Have absolutely loved it. I think we will move on to the revival fourth season, but I told my H I’d check in here because he thought the ending was perfect after three seasons.

Without going into details, how does B P and G feel after that big gap? Thanks for any thoughts.

I said as much in my earlier post.

That said, it’s worth a watch if you’ve nothing else to binge.

Someone has mentioned The Lincoln Lawyer while back. Just started it last night. It was a lot of fun.

It is a legal drama adapted from the novel by Michael Connelly.
Connelly is the author of Bosch. It was said that the protagonist in this series, Mickey, was Bosch’s half- brother.

If you like Bosch (I do), you probably will like the Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.

I just finished the episode and it’s quite an emotional rollercoaster. Now we wait until Christmas for the next episode.

Thanks! i’ll keep in on the list, but if we have something else maybe we’ll move on. Though on the other hand, I’m so invested in the gang I really want to see more of them! Though sorry to hear Magnus was recast, because Magnus 1 was wonderful. And super going to miss Kasper and Hanne!

I loved Gentleman Jack. Do bummed there’s not more to watch. On a completely different note…I just finished GLOW on Netflix. If you’re looking for some 80s nostalgia , check it out.

I am wrapping up Season 11 tonight and have a pit in my stomach.

Comcast has “free this week” promotions, ( it changes weekly ) this week it’s ACORN TV with Doc Martin Final season 10 finale! How will it all end :slightly_smiling_face:……I will miss Port Wen, especially hearing that happy tune at the end of each episode

Will check out GLOW. It doesn’t ring any bell
Thanks!

Gentleman Jack is in a strange predicament, in that BBC has stated that it plans to keep going and the writer has said she planned season 3&4 and with Happy Valley being the masterpiece it is + a critical success that brings in audience and has people all over the UK talking, she has pull… but she also won’t work for a smaller budget, which a period drama requires anyway, so… they’re looking for a new partner since HBO pulled out. I’m pretty sure it will return. Though, like Happy Valley, it could be years before that happens!

I am on Episode 5 of Call the Midwife. All in all I liked Series 12 less than the previous ones. The intersection of historical/political/social and personal held a lot of potential imho, 1968 being a BIG year.

Doesn’t ACORN have Happy Valley S1&2? And saw an announcement for S3 I think

Anyone who’s not watched it…

So my GLOW story is that the real 80s version was filmed at the Riviera Hotel & Casino. My firm’s Nevada lobbyist at the time was one of the gaming license holders at the Riv, so we had to stay there whenever we traveled to Vegas on business. Always got a suite but the place was a dump and beyond depressing. Walking in the front door and seeing the GLOW ring didn’t exactly impress you. Would occasionally see some of the ladies and even out of costume it was pretty scary.

Haven’t watched, just checked the Free acorn promotion and only a few episodes seem to be included in the promo.

UNFORGOTTEN season 5 just started on ITV (British)! With a new character and, true to its title, another one that isn’t forgotten.

Someone on this thread a long time ago recommended “Perry Mason”. It took me a long time to get to it because the original was so cookie cutter, but I happened to see a couple pictures and it looked very stylish, a 40s noir aesthetics, so I decided to give it a try.

Thanks for letting us know about Unforgotten. What a great show.

I just finished C.B. Strike last night. It was one of a few detective plots that we could not guess whodunnit. We liked that.

Death in Paradise is a long-running British police procedural. Takes place on the fictional Caribbean island of St. Marie. It’s lighter than many shows of this genre, island vibe. It’s OK, not as good as Shetland/Vera, which for me are the gold standard.

There is a spin off called Beyond Paradise, where one of the past inspectors relocates to Devon with his fiancée. We thought the pilot episode was actually a little better than the series which spawned it. Quirkier, funnier.

Both are available on Britbox.

Thanks for the reminder on this. I forgot it was coming out. Fortunately, we’re only one episode in, so I haven’t missed much

I think you will like this season, too. We watched the final episode last night. My husband admitted he could not guess the ending (he is usually pretty at it).

He also said he likes the title song.

While you are on the Aaron Sorkin train, you could consider watching Sports Night. S owns the DVDs and I watched them once years ago when he was home from college on break. It’s pre-WW.
