Binghamton or Stony Brook for Physics

My daughter plans to major in physics. Which is considered better for that area, either Binghamton or Stony Brook and how is each school over all?

I am currently a freshman at Binghamton and I love it here. And in fact, Stony Brook was one of my other choices when deciding where to attend college. As a science major, a school with a good science program was important, especially with a research program, which both schools offer. While I can say that Stony Brook has a better physics program (and if your daughter is even interested, they have a WISE (women in science and engineering) program too! But, it is all up to what is more important to your daughter... I have heard that Stony Brook does not have as big of a social life as Binghamton. And SB does have a LARGE commuter population, though I don't know if that would influence your decision. Personally, coming from Long Island I could not tolerate the idea of staying too close to home. And I didn't want to commute either. So for me the decision was clear: Binghamton. And as I said before, I love it here and I would make the same decision again if given the choice.
