bio exam

Yeah, just remember bryophytes' life cycle is dominated by the gametophyte stage. Yum, cake time--I'll be back on tonight. Fabrizio--if you wish to get the almighty biology review room going again, I would be honored.

i hope it's on:

describe the 4 polymers
carbs
lipids
amino acids
nucleotides

:p

oh no...not nerves! nerves and plants are my weakness....i know everything up to and including evolution, and i also know the ecology...the rest of the stuff except plants - i can manage for the multiple choice, but essays are a toss up

theres an AP biology review chat room?

carbs- sugars can be simple from mono or complex to polysaccharides, important carb glucose

lipids - hydrophobic substances, cell membrane made up of a phospholipid bilayer, can also be steroids which can diffuse through the cell membrane. In anatomy, broken down by lipase in the small intestine and absorbed by lacteals also in the small intestine.

amino acids - building blocks of protein, important in translation/make up of your body

nucleotides - single units which make up nucleic acid (dna or rna) which in essence creates your amino acids and proteins

which extraembryonic membrane stores waste products? which is the outtermost membrane?

its that allen thing isnt it?

Allantois stores waste products.

Chorion is the outer extraembryonic membrane right?

Chorion is involved in gas exchange; its the membrane before the shell in exoembryonic organisms. Go to my room--much more productive.

what kind of room?

A biology AP review room:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=56946

what does the medulla and cortex do in the kidney??

It serves no "primary" purpose, but rather are different areas within the kidney itself. The entire nephron is located within the cortex, while the loop of henle is located in the medulla.

so whats the difference in funtion between them (generally)

can someone take me through blastula cleavage etc?? in like a paragraph summary please??

oh, nvrmind

the blastula is the hollow ball of cells after the morula stage. Remember, the morula forms from the fertilized embryo, which divides but does not grow, so the size of the whole thing remains the same. after the blastula stage, the cells invaginate along the primitive streak and forms 3 germ layers (ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm). These germ layers will differentiate into differnet organs during organogensis.

medulla is has a high osmolairty, meaning more solutes, and this allows for the collecting tube to absorb water. It is more concentrated because the ascending loop of helne abosrbs salts. Urine is able to be concentrated because of nephrons that reach deep enough to reach the medulla. However, most nephrons are do not reach the medulla and stay completely at the cortex.

thanks so much you gusy are the best. if you need help and i can im here.
