my friend wanted ot know if irvine premed is hard? would it be hard to maintain a 3.5 after 4 years. any bio majors out there?

if premed is hard? it is always hard.

to maintain a 3.5 after 4 years? yea ez

too bad a 3.5 doesn't cut the cake.

A 3.5 after 4 years is not too hard to get just as long as you keep up. The quarter system makes classes go by real fast, so just keep up. I was able to maintain higher than a 3.5 there in 4 years. Just budget your time right, take the right teachers, and be responsible and a 3.5 is feasible. Bio majors at UCI are highly competitive back when i was there from 2001-2005, so try not to get discouraged.

Tell your "friend" (which really means yourself obviously) that if he is even considering whether premed is hard, it is not right for him.

Bio is hard and a 3.5 GPA is low. That said, you do not need to major in bio or be a premed to get into medical school. However, you do need to do very well in the courses required for admission, which should be the same introductory courses majors take.
